Sunday Service
This past Sunday, Elder Soon-Teck finished off the last message Who Is a God Like You? from Micah chapter 7. Significant positive change can only happen when we face up to our sin (Micah 7:7). It is human tendency to rationalize, excuse, or ignore our sin. However, when we face up to our sin (Psalm 32:3-5), we can find hope in God. That hope entails receiving God's boundless grace and mercy (Micah 7:18-19). God delights to show mercy. We can thus experience restoration (Micah 7:11-12) and revival both personally and corporately.
Above we see a sculpture of a shepherd, an image Micah himself uses for God towards his people. This image of a sheep 🐑 slung over the shoulders is a typical depiction of the Good Shepherd theme. We are reminded of Jesus’ many stories regarding the shepherd and his sheep, of him leaving the hundred to search for the one. Here we see the full weight of the sheep being carried by the shepherd as he returns, undoubtedly, to the rest of his flock. That is the extravagance of God’s mercy; the flock is restored as the lost are restored. Though we like sheep have gone astray, we will rise on the shoulders of our shepherd. Because… there is no God like our God.
